CHENNAI: Baroda scripted a five-wicket victory over Maharashtra on the fourth and final day of the Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 cricket match here on Friday. With 10 points from four matches, Baroda entered the semifinals (it has already received a bye in the quarterfinals by virtue of being the defending champion). Tamil Nadu (6 points from 4) let UP off the hook to finish with three points for its first innings lead. TN failed to reach the quarterfinals while UP entered the last eight collecting 14 points from four. The scores: At Chennai: TN 527 drew with UP 274 & 277 for six in 92.1 overs (Digvijay Singh 102, Md. Zahid Ali 92, Umang Sharma 27, Shivansh Sharma 29). TN 3, UP 1. Maharashtra 167 & 272 in 92 overs (Vishant More 83, Rohit Charan 70, Azhar Ansari 29, Bhargav Bhatt four for 38) lost to Baroda 283 & 160 for five in 39.5 overs (Aditya Reddy 71, Nikunj Mohite 28). Baroda 5, Maharashtra 0. At Bangalore: Mumbai 297 in 119.1 overs and 273 for nine decl. in 71.2 overs bt Haryana 114 in 52.2 overs and 179 in 55.3 overs (Mukul Dagar 69, Jathar five for 45, Netrawarker five for 50). Bengal 405 in 183.4 overs (Krishna Das four for 39, Sarupam four for 134) and 37 for two in 12.2 overs drew with Assam 339 in 141.5 overs (Arminder Oberoi 48, M. Krashanu 44, Prateek four for 78, Arijeeth Baneerjee four for 79).
