Parthiv Patel hits unbeaten century

Chennai: Parthiv Patel, batting on 127, helped Gujarat to 210 for three at the close of day two of its Ranji Trophy Super League match against Orissa at Bhubaneshwar on Friday. Gujarat goes into day three 48 ahead in its first innings with seven wickets in hand.

At Vadodara, Irfan Pathan scythed through Andhra Pradesh with a seven-wicket haul, to blow the visitor away for 70 in just 20 overs in its first innings. Earlier, Baroda, resuming at 201 for one, was bowled out for 400, with keeper Pinal Shah adding 72. Left-arm seamer T. Atchuti Rao took five wickets for Andhra.

Spinners Sunil Joshi and K.P. Appanna took four wickets each to bowl Maharashtra out for 210, 42 short of Karnataka’s first innings score. Maharashtra opener Harshad Khadiwale scored 70. In its second innings, Karnataka lost five wickets in scoring 131, to go in at stumps 173 ahead.

In a thrilling low-scorer at Rajkot, Hyderabad ended day two on 14 for two, chasing a victory target of 177. Resuming on 112 for six in the morning, Hyderabad ended its first innings all out for 140, seven ahead of Saurashtra. Saurashtra’s second innings folded for 183, with spinners D.B. Ravi Teja and Amol Shinde sharing seven wickets.
