Negi, Kiro win 200m kayaking golds

BANGALORE: Dilip Singh Negi of the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and Andaman & Nicobar’s Ragina Kiro won golds in the 200m kayaking event on the concluding day of the 19th National kayaking and canoeing championship at Trishna Club, Ulsoor Lake here on Friday.

Kerala’s Shyalu Prakash made it a treble winning gold in the K-1, K-2 and K-4 category races in the sub-junior girls’ section.

SSCB raced away with the men’s overall championship with 14 golds while Kerala proved streets ahead of the field in the women’s section.

The results (winners only): 200m Kayaking: 200m: Men: K-1: D.S. Negi (SSCB) 39.72 secs. K-2: A. Yendopha & Bhuopinder Singh (SSCB) 36.98. K-4: D.S. Negi, Lalit Kumar, Shakti Swaroop, Saw Kalyan (SSCB) 34.36 secs.

Junior boys: K-1: Ram Lakhan (ASCB) 45.07 secs. Sub junior boys: K-2: Raj Singh & K. Somorjit Singh (ASCB) 42.44 secs. K-4: Raj Singh, K. Somorjit Singh, Ram Lakhan, Michal Dixon (ASCB) 36.72 secs.

Women: K-1: Ragina Kiro (Andamans) 49.43 secs. K-2: Ragina Kiro & Mamta Tirkey (Andamans) 45.47 secs. K-4: Josna Yohanan, Libimol K Antony, Jesseymol D, Smitha Assis (Ker) 43.42 secs.

Sub junior girls: K-1: Shyalu Prakash (Ker) 58.75 secs. K-2: Shyalu Prakash & Sheebamol AT (Ker) 53.22 secs. K-4: Jesseymol, Nithya TA, Shyalu Prakash, Sheebamol AT (Ker) 43.90 secs.
