Spirit worth Rs. 15 lakh seized, two held

Karwar: Officials of the Excise Department seized spirit worth Rs. 15 lakh, which was being transported illegally, near Anamod check-post in Joida on Friday.

The officials seized 415 cans, each containing 35 litres of spirit, and a truck in which they were being transported.

Two persons, including the truck driver, have been arrested. They were identified as Gurumail Singh and Nehal Singh. They have been produced in a court.

The accused had allegedly hidden the spirit cans along with bags of fertilizer in the truck.
