PALANI: Tension gripped the temple town here as Congress men found half burnt party flags in over five places, including bus stand, court, government hospital, railway station, farmers’ shandy and tahsildar offices.

Led by Palani MP S.K. Karvendhan, Congress partymen picketed the Dindigul-Palani highway before the central bus stand demanding the arrest of those behind the incident.

Vedasandur MLA M. Thandapani strongly protested the incident and urged the police to arrest the culprits. Later, talking to reporters, the MP said that this matter would be raised in the Parliament.

Meanwhile, the police arrested two Periyar Dravida Kazhagam functionaries in this connection.
