Pulse Polio drops administered

For health: Minister for Medical Education and Health Insurance Galla Aruna administers polio drops as part of the ’Pulse Polio campaign’ in Tirupati on Sunday.

NELLORE: MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy administered polio drops to the children in a booth arranged in Ramalayam in the city and inaugurated the Pulse Polio immunisation programme on Sunday.

Collector K. Ram Gopal, Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy and others administered polio drops to the children at the PPI centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector said the officials identified about 3,26,814 children, aged 0-5 years, in the district and the Medical and Health department staff arranged 2,440 booths in rural areas and 485 vaccination centres in urban areas.

In all, 11,700 staff including Asha volunteers, ICDS, paramedical, Indira Kranthi Padam and teachers were allotted for duties.

The staff will administer polio drops at the booths on the first day and will make door-to-door visits on December 22 and 23, said the Collector.

Municipal Commissioner T.S.R. Anjaneyulu, District Medical and Health Officer C. Chandrashekar Reddy, District Immunization Officer Dr. Lakshmi Kantamma and others were present.

Responsibility

Chittoor Correspondent adds: Collector M. Ravi Chandra launched Pulse Polio programme here at Gangireddy Municipal Elementary School on Sunday along with the Municipal Chairperson Sarala Mary and Municipal Commissioner Umapathi by administering polio drops to the children. Speaking on this occasion he said that it is the responsibility of the parents to evince interest in administering polio drops to their children and make them free from polio.

The District Medical and Health Officer told that 4.50 lakh children would be given polio drops in the immunisation centres setup at different places in the district.

Special centres

Kadapa Special Correspondent adds: Pulse Polio oral drops are being administered among 3.10 lakh children under five years of age in Kadapa district, Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said on Sunday. The Collector, Joint Collector M. Girijasankar, DMHO T. Venkataramana Reddy and Municipal Commissioner Aleem Basha administered polio drops to children in Sri Chowdeswari Devi Oriental high school here. Polio drops were given in 2,980 polio immunisation centres and through 73 mobile vehicles. Special centres were set up in RTC bus stands and railway stations to inoculate children.

In all, 12,066 staff members, 298 route supervisors, medical and health officials, teachers and voluntary organisation representatives participated. Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy and Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool administered drops in the urban health centre at Akkayapalle and Chemmumiyapet.
