Prajwal Kumar qualifies for the main draw

BANGALORE: Prajwal Kumar defeated Rohit Dinakar 8-6 and qualified for the main draw of the boys’ under-14 singles in the Mahila Seva Samaj-AITA Talent Series championship at MSS courts here on Sunday.

The other players to qualify for the main draw in the under-14 singles were Anthony Savio, Vivek Gowtham, Arman Banerji, R. Gowtham, Rohit Bagalani, Himashu and M. Arjun.

The qualifiers were also spotted in the under-16 singles. The main draw matches get underway from Monday.

The results (final qualifying round): Boys: Under-14 singles: Anthony Savio bt Harsh Lakhani 8-2; Prajwal Kumar bt Rohit Dinakar 8-6; Vivek Gowtham bt T. Vishnu Varsh 8-3; Arman Banerji bt S.M. Double for Rahul

Rahul Hegde of Bharat Sevadal Jnana Bhandar School bagged a double in the Deccan Athletic Club’s weekend athletic meet at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Sunday. Rahul won the boys’ under-16 800m and 3000m events.
