Central Zone posts win

THALASSERY: Central Zone defeated North Zone by five wickets in the State inter-zone under-14 cricket tournament at the Thalassery cricket stadium here on Sunday.

On a day in which 25 wickets fell, North Zone was bundled out for a paltry 26 runs in its second innings. Central Zone, which conceded a first innings lead of 31 runs, needed 58 runs to score an out-right win.

Central Zone suffered a few glitches before reaching the target in the 30th over for the loss of five wickets. Central Zone got five points for the win.

The scores: North Zone 120 & 26 for no loss in 10 overs (P.K. Vishnu Das four for eight) lost to Central Zone 89 in 51.1 overs (Jikendra V. Jadhan five for 25, Iqulas Naha five for 20) & 61 for five in 29.4 overs (C.K. Druv Krishna three for 27).
