David Mulford meets Chidambaram

NEW DELHI: U.S. Ambassador David C. Mulford on Monday met Home Minister P. Chidambaram here in the backdrop of Washington’s offer to share information and collaborate with New Delhi in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.

Official sources said the meeting at North Block lasted for about half-an-hour. It is learnt that India has sought U.S. help in laying its hands on intercepts collected by American agencies that relate to the Mumbai terror attacks as it would further tighten the case against Pakistan.

“We are working through the initial parts of a package. We would offer to India to help them understand some of the lessons that we very painfully learnt in the wake of our September 11 attacks, in information sharing, collaboration and cooperation,” Admiral Timothy Keating, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, said in Washington last week.
