SANGAREDDY: Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi on Monday sarcastically appreciated the ‘fast action by the police’ to register cases against him and said that such a change was required in the society. Addressing a public meeting at Sangareddy, he referred to the case registered by the police against him at Nalgonda for violating the deadline. “Police has issued me a warning by registering a case. May be the higher-ups instructed them to do so. We have to appreciate the quick action by the police. Had the police acted that fast in Ayesha case and the recent incident at Warangal, the result might have been different,” he said. Stating that the days of politicians acting as they wish (ishtarajyam) has gone and now the Praja Rajyam was in its place where people rule as they wish, he said that it was possible only through the youth. Earlier in the day, Mr. Chiranjeevi visited the pollution treatment plant at Pocharam village where the polluted water effluents released by the industries is being released without proper treatment into Nakkavagu, which in turn joins the Manjeera stream. Addressing the villagers, Mr. Chiranjeevi promised to provide fresh water after PR comes to power stating that required funds would be released to the Pollution Control Board. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
