HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association has convened a meeting of the 29 secretaries of the State Sports Associations on December 27 to discuss the preparations for the 34th National Games to be held in Jharkhand in February next year, said L. Venkatram Reddy, secretary of APOA. “After a meeting with the top brass of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh on Monday, we have started the preparations in right earnest. We invited the secretaries to come with eligibility letters from their respective Federations. “We also asked them to come with probable dates for the coaching camps and their duration which have to be finalised at the meeting on Dec. 27 to give enough time for the APOA and SAAP to ensure everything went according to plan,” said Venkatram Reddy. Former MP A.P. Jitender Reddy will be the chef-de-mission of the Andhra Pradesh contingent for the Games. Jitender was part of the delegation which had a meeting with SAAP earlier. “With SAAP willing to extend complete support to the State contingent in holding the camps besides providing financial assistance, the APOA should not have any problems in doing the job efficiently,” said Venkatram Reddy. — Principal Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
