Narcotic drugs destroyed

CHENNAI: Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances worth about Rs.54.72 crore in the international market seized in 3,037 cases registered across Tamil Nadu were destroyed at Thenmelpakkam in Kancheepuram district on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau CID police, the contraband substances, including 15.4 kg of cocaine, 36.51 kg of heroin, 314 kg of opium and 3,789 kg of ganja, were destroyed by the ‘Destruction Committee’ formed by the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise. — Special Correspondent
