Anantapur boys triumph in under-14 hockey championship

VIJAYAWADA: Anantapur defeated Vizag 5-0 in the final of the Andhra mini boys’ U-14 hockey championship that concluded at the Acharya Nagarjuna University grounds at Guntur on Tuesday.

D. Siva’s brace was the highlight of the final.

The result: Anantapur 5 (D. Siva 2, K. Amarnath, V. Sriram, M. Harish) bt Vizag 0.

Sandeep hits century

V. Sandeep’s 104 helped ACA President’s XI score a 58-run victory over Secretary’s XI in the ACA Central Zone U-25 selection match at the Loyola Public School grounds at Guntur on Tuesday.

The scores: ACA President’s XI 247 in 50 overs (V. Sandeep 104, T.K. Ganesh 43, V. Mahesh three for 27) bt ACA Secretary’s XI 189 in 47 overs (Sk. Hussain 67, Chaitanya three for 44, T.K. Ganesh three for 18).

Chess tournament

Bhimavaram will host the Coastal Districts Open rapid chess tournament on December 25 at Gitams School.
