Agartala police arrest 32 Bangladeshis

Agartala: Thirty-two Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested from a brick kiln at Champamura on the outskirts of Agartala, police sources said on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the West Agartala police station raided the kiln on Wednesday night and arrested the Bangladeshis who came to work as labourers.

The raid was conducted after the interrogation of two Bangladeshi nationals, who were apprehended by the Border Security Force on Monday.

The police were investigating whether the arrested Bangladeshis had any links with criminals.

Alert along border

Earlier, the State Home department sounded an alert along the entire India-Bangladesh border and the BSF was asked to intensify vigil in view of the coming elections in the neighbouring country. — PTI
