DSA league kicks off today

NEW DELHI: Defending champion Osian New Delhi Heroes will take on newly-promoted Royal Rangers in the inaugural match of the Delhi Soccer Association commencing on Friday at the Ambedkar Stadium here.

Fourteen affiliated clubs will vie for top honours in this years league championship. The top five teams each of the two groups will qualify for the Super League which will be played on round-robin basis. The DSA, according to its secretary N.K. Bhatia, has constituted a league sub committee consisting of Mr. O.P. Malhotra as chairman and Mr. Syed Shaheen as convenor.

As per AIFF’s directives, the teams can register only two foreign players to play in the League. The eight top teams of the Super League will qualify for the AFC’s vision Delhi City Elite League to be held from July onwards.

The tournament will kick off at 2 p.m.

The groupings:

Group ‘A’: ND Heroes, Hind-Ahbab, Garhwal Heroes, Shahdara, Indian Air Force

(New Delhi). Youngmen and Royal Rangers.

Group ‘B’: Indian National, Tarun Sangha, City, G4SSS-Hindustan, Shastri,

Spice Energy-Simla Youngs and Indian Air Force (Palam). — Special Correspondent
