Tiruvannamalai: The Kavuthi Hills-Vediyappan Hills Protection Movement has started a postcard campaign against the move to set up an iron ore mining project in the reserve forests of these two hills situated near Tiruvannamalai. The movement has urged students to send requests on postcards to the Collector telling him not to allow the project. “The project will affect the hills, trees and wildlife and also the health, environment and livelihood of people in this region. So, we decided to take this message to the students,” said Sivaraj, an activist of the movement. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
