Efforts being made to safeguard consumer rights: Namakkal Collector

NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal district administration has initiated concerted efforts to safeguard and promote consumer rights, Collector U. Sagayam said.

Grievances redressal

Participating in a meeting organised to mark the National Consumer Day at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, Mr. Sagayam said the administration would ensure speedy redressal of consumer grievances.

Clubs

Steps had been taken to promote awareness among people on consumer rights.

Consumer clubs had been established in 30 schools and 25 colleges in the district to create awareness among students. Remaining educational institutions would be encouraged to establish such clubs, he added.

Prizes

Later, the Collector distributed prizes to the winners of elocution, essay writing and drawing competitions conducted by the Department of Civil supplies and Consumer Protection.

District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj, District Supply Officer Ravindran, Chief Educational Officer C. Appadurai, Deputy Director of Health Services Sekar and senior officials were among those who were present.
