New building for police station

Director-General of Police K.P. Jain inaugurates the new building for Tirupur Rural Police Station on Friday –

Tirupur: The blueprint being prepared by the police administration identifying the strength, logistical and infrastructure requirements for the ‘newly notified’ Tirupur district will be submitted to the government shortly, according to Director General of Police (Law and Order) K.P.Jain.

He told reporters here on Friday evening that there had been no plans to set up a Commissionerate in Tirupur city for the time being and the new district, to be inaugurated soon, would be headed by a Superintendent of Police.

Sub-divisions

He said that it would be proposed to constitute six sub-divisions for the new Tirupur district, each under the head of a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Answering a query, he said that the draft document (ie blueprint) suggesting the layout of the administration would recommend for more manpower to the region.

Earlier, Mr. Jain inaugurated the new building constructed for Tirupur Rural police station by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Limited (TPHCL) at an outlay of Rs 26.5 lakh earmarked under Modernisation of Police Force scheme. Till now, the station was functioning on rented premises.

Inspector General of Police Pramod Kumar, DIG P Sivanandi, and Executive Engineer of TPHCL A Senthil Kumar, among others, were present.
