Sand-laden lorries seized

Tirupur: The revenue officials seized three sand-laden lorries mined illegally from river bed at Udumalpet near here on Friday. Official sources said that a team led by Tahsildar P. Selvaraj intercepted the lorries based on a tip-off. The interrogation of the drivers had revealed that the sand was mined from Amaravathy river.

Arrested

M. Karthi (28), a native of Dindigul, was caught redhanded when he attempted to steal a two-wheeler in the city on Friday. The police said the accused was caught by the public after a chase along Tirupur-Avinashi highway. The accused was later remanded to judicial custody.
