Court orders notice to Manjula and posts the matter
for January 7

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has granted interim stay of operation of its order transferring a case pending before a Family Court here to a subordinate court in Bangalore.

Following a petition by Manjula of Hanumantha Nagar, Bangalore, Justice S. Rajeswaran had ordered the transfer of the case.

Review petition

In a review petition, filed by counsel S. Vaidyanathan, the woman’s husband, R.Balaji of Perambur, submitted that he had filed a petition before the Family Court, Chennai.

He submitted that in view of a decision of the Supreme Court, only the apex court had the power to transfer cases from one State to another.

Following this, the court stayed the operation of the order transferring the case.

It ordered notice to Ms. Manjula and posted the matter for January 7.
