Concentrate on quality, consumer goods manufacturers told

CHENNAI: For households planning to add more consumer goods this New Year, the ‘Home Life Exhibition’ that got under way on Friday at the Kamaraj Hall, Teynampet, would be a good place to shop.

Inaugurating the exhibition, being organised by TIFA Trade and Exhibition Company, Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali said the consumer goods manufacturers must concentrate on quality of their products.

Such exhibitions were an opportunity for the consumers to choose from a wide range of products directly marketed by the manufacturers.

US Consul-General in South India Andrew T.Simkin said such exhibitions, which bring several manufacturers under one roof, made their products much more accessible to the consumers.

The Home Life Exhibition is being hosted for about two decades now.

When there is economic recession across the world, an increase in consumer goods sales could be expected only in growing economies such as India, he said. TIFA Trade and Exhibition Company managing director Syed Tariq Ahmed said about 120 stalls of various manufacturers across the country have been put up at the exhibition.

Besides furniture and kitchen products, including induction cookers, the stalls showcase sanitary ware, security products, water purifiers and invertors.

A few insurance companies are also participating in the exhibition.Participation of automobile companies is an added attraction this year.

Two major car manufacturers are participating in the exhibition.

Many of the participants in the exhibition have come out with special offers for the event, he said.

About 60,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition. It would be on till January 1 between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.
