Rajasekhar stars in Sporting win

HYDERABAD: Centre-forward Rajasekhar scored a hat-trick in Secunderabad Sporting’s 5-0 win over Lucky Club in the B-Division hockey league championship at Gymkhana Grounds here on Saturday. Rahul and Haseeb completed the tally.

In another match, Coronation Club drubbed Nehru Club 8-0 with Munuswamy scoring three goals. George struck twice and Arjun, Sayeed and Allister Edwards netted once each.

Easy for CCOB

City College Old Boys defeated Shastri Soccer Club 3-1 in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at Gymkhana Grounds here.

Shastri took the lead in the fourth minute through Rahul. However, CCOB found the equaliser in the 19th minute through Mohd Bin Hasan.

In the second session, CCOB took the lead in the 40th minute through Sarwar and soon Hasan was in the scoring act again to complete the tally.

In another match, State Bank of Hyderabad and AOC Centre played out a goalless draw with the Bank goalkeeper Gopaiah, who came in as a substitute for the regular custodian, bringing off fine saves.

Rajiv in pre-quarterfinals

I.V. Rajiv of Literary Association of Kakinada defeaeted V.G.K. Murthy of LVR 70-6, 68-4 in the final round to qualify for the snooker pre-quarterfinals of the LVR Open snooker and billiards tournament being held in Guntur, according to information received here.
