Couple commit suicide

CHENNAI: A couple in Tiruvottiyur committed suicide following a domestic quarrel.

According to police, P. Rajesh Kumar (23), working in a shipping firm as an assistant, had married J. Devi, a resident of Tondiarpet, three years ago.

At 11.45 p.m. on Friday, Devi woke up and found that her husband had hanged himself to death. She immediately called up her husband’s family and told them that they had a quarrel before she went to sleep.

Even as the family members rushed to her house, Devi doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze.

She was rushed to Government Kilpauk Hospital with 85 per cent burns. She succumbed to injuries at 5 a.m. on Saturday. An RDO inquiry has been ordered.
