Dindigul blanks Pudukottai

TIRUCHI: Last year’s runner-up Dindigul downed Pudukottai 4-0 in a pre-quarterfinal encounter of the State youth football championship for the A.G. Subbaraman Trophy here on Sunday.

Defensive lapse

Pudukottai players found it hard to penetrate the rival defence and barely made any attempts to score.

Minutes before the half time, Arockiya Anandaraj gave the finishing touch to a Raguram Kumar’s free kick to put his team 2-0 up. Dindigul kept the momentum going in the second half. Manikandan and Jaffer Sadiq struck a goal each to complete the tally.
