Koderma (Jharkhand): In the midst of a gruelling schedule, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee turns to Bengali classics to de-stress. “My work starts early in the morning and continues till midnight. Amidst this, whenever I get time I read Bangla classics by authors like Bibhuti Bhusan Bandyopadhyay. This helps me to carry on,” Mr. Mukherjee said. In the last 10 years, he had not found a single inspiring Bengali writer. But he lauded India-born English writer Amitav Ghosh. He was speaking as the outgoing president of the 81st Nikhil Bharatiya Banga Sammelan here. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
