New Delhi: S. Sivakumar, Research Professor of Indian Law Institute here has been appointed Honorary Programme Adviser to the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) for one year. Constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act in December 1995 under the chief patronage of the Chief Justice of India, NALSA is the apex body to lay down policies and principles for making legal services available and to frame most effective and economical schemes for legal services. It also disburses funds and grants to State Legal Services authorities and NGOs for implementing legal aid schemes and programmes. Professor Sivakumar is the only advisor to NALSA for rendering assistance in formulating and implementing legal aid schemes and programmes.
