Nitte (Udupi district): Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Monday that security is high on the Government’s agenda.

He was speaking after inaugurating the rural development projects, sponsored by Nitte Education Trust as part of the birth centenary celebrations of late K.S. Hegde here.

The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive programme would be prepared by the Government to make students aware of security concerns. Stating that emphasis should be laid on quality and standard of education, he lauded the service being rendered by various maths and temples, including the Nitte Education Trust in rural education.

‘Revolutionary work’

He said that Nitte Education Trust had done revolutionary work in rural development and urged its president N. Vinay Hegde to expand its rural development institutions to all district headquarters in the State.

People should draw inspiration from the life and achievements of late justice K.S. Hegde. He had brought dignity to every post he held, be it the judge of Supreme Court or the Speaker of Lok Sabha. Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani was right in stating that K.S. Hegde should have been made the President of India. “The youth should emulate the ideals of K.S. Hegde,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.

Mr. Vinay Hegde welcomed the gathering. Home Minister V.S. Acharya presided over the function. Minister for Ports J. Krishna Palemar, president of State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Member of Parliament D.V. Sadananda Gowda, MLA Lalaji Mendon, Member of Legislative Council Ganesh Karnik, and Pejawar Math’s seer Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji were present.
