NEW DELHI: A Sessions court here has acquitted a doctor in a sexual assault case, holding that there was no basis for making him an accused in it. However, Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Sharma ordered framing of charges of sexual assault (Section 376) and kidnapping (Section 366) under the Indian Penal Code against three other accused in the case -- Bobby, Subhash and Puja. Arguing for the doctor, his counsel V.K. Singh submitted that the victim had initially made no mention of his client in her statement to the police during the investigation. She had later changed her version and implicated him in her statement before a Metropolitan Magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Mr. Singh submitted. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
