Boy drowns

ATTUR: A school boy drowned in the Vashista River here on Monday.

The police said Syed (13), studying Standard IX in a school, was fishing in the river when he suddenly drowned. People in the area retrieved the body. The police registered a case.

Man killed

A motorcycle mechanic was killed on the spot in a road accident in Ayodhyapattinam near here on Monday.

The police said Ponnusamy (27) of Dathanur was going to Mettupatti in his motorcycle when a private bus dashed against his vehicle, killing him on the spot.

The police registered a case.
