Career guidance seminar for final year students

KRISHNAGIRI: “Nothing is impossible in life, dedicated involvement in the assigned work will bear fruit,” said Collector V.K. Shanmugam on Tuesday.

He was addressing the students of Bargur Womens Arts College after inaugurating the career guidance exhibition and seminar organised at the college. The programme was organized for the benefit of the final year degree students.

College Principal R. Meenakshi spoke about the various options for higher studies and employment opportunities.

R. Natarajan, Assistant Director, Directorate of Employment and Training, Chennai spoke on the employment for science and maths students.

M.Sc Electronics students have huge scope in the telecom and aeronautical sectors.

He also spoke about the other areas for employment like Digital Processing, Outsourcing, and Content Writing.

Natarajan advised the students to study foreign languages in addition to their degree that will fetch them good job with the MNCs as technical witers, content writers and translators.

A. Latha, Zonal Deputy Director (Employment), Coimbatore, said that the main aim of the seminar was to create awareness about the prevailing situation in the employment market.

The focus is to prepare the students to pursue their higher studies. S. Manivannan, Assistant Director, Ex-servicemen Welfare Department spoke about the employment opportunities in defence forces and S. Chennaiyan, Advocate spoke about opportunities in Law.

Earlier K. Balakrishnan, District Employment Officer welcomed the gathering, A. Ponnuraj, Junior Employment Officer proposed vote of thanks.
