BANGALORE: An excited Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Tuesday jumped the gun by declaring that the Bharatiya Janata Party had won six of the eight seats in the byelection to the Legislative Assembly, even as the Election Commission withheld the result of one constituency. “Yes, our candidate got elected even in Turuvekere. Recounting is going on. But we are winning there too,” Mr Yeddyurappa told presspersons at Krishna, home office of the Chief Minister, when he was reminded that Turuvekere was going in favour of JD (S) candidate M.T. Krishnappa. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
