Big win for Sathyam Cinemas

CHENNAI: Powered by Chetan’s 110, Sathyam Cinemas notched up 321 in 20 overs and thereafter recorded a thumping 243-run win over Lowe Lintas in the Adclub-Sporstar Twenty20 cricket tournament here recently.

The scores: Disha Communications 83 in 20 overs (Niranjan 35, Babu three for 17) lost to Ashok Leyland 88 for two in 6 overs (Babu 75 not out).

Vijay TV 147 in 20 overs (Sriram 42, Venkatesan 53 not out) bt The Hindu ‘B’ 129 in 10 overs (Ramesh 25, Raghavan 27).

Asif Salam returned figures of six for 13 to help VBCA to a 10-wicket win over Prahlad ‘B’ in the Prahlad Cricket Academy cricket tournament.

Madras Gymkhana Club ‘A’, powered by an unbeaten 114 from M. Shivram, recorded a 106-run win over Andhra Club in a Singaram Trophy inter-club cricket match held recently.

New College TT

New College will organise an inter-collegiate table tennis tournament on January 6 and 7 at its premises. The tournament is open to all students of Arts and Science colleges for men. Tamil Nadu triumphs

Tamil Nadu with 23 points won the overall championship in the National sub-junior tennikoit championship at Ladanendal, Sivaganga District recently. Andhra Pradesh (19 points), Kerala (14) and Pondicherry (6) followed TN in that order.

B, F, H stands for fans

Fans who want to watch the Ranji Trophy cricket semifinal match between Mumbai and Saurashtra at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium from January 4 to 7 may do so from the ‘F’ and ‘H’ stands (Bells Road) and ‘B’ stand (Victoria Hostel Road).
