ENCHANTING: A view of the district handlooms exhibition in Tiruchi. — TIRUCHI: A sales target of Rs.30 lakh has been fixed for the district-level handlooms exhibition which opened in the city on Friday. An array of cotton and silk fabrics produced by various handloom cooperative societies of the State are on display. A festival discount of 30 per cent will be on offer for cotton fabrics and 10 per cent for silk. Handlooms Department officials said silk saris from Kancheepuram, Tirupuvanam and other centres, cotton saris from Woraiyur, Chinnalapatti and Coimbatore and Sungudi saris were also available at the fair. Bedspreads, pillow covers, and furnishing material from Erode and Chennimalai and lungis from Kurunjipadi were also on display. District Revenue Officer Sri Venkata Priya inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of S.Padmavathi, Assistant Director, Handlooms, Tiruchi.
