Kakinada: An all-party team of farmers’ unions is visiting Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) on January 2 to assess the situation in places where the land acquisition was reportedly done through fraudulent means, and express solidarity with the agitating people’s organisations. The team comprising K. Ramakrishna (former MLA of CPI), R. Venkaiah, U. Narayana Rao, S. Rama Rao (CPM), Poornachandra Rao (TDP), Nagendranath and V. Surendra Reddy (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) will interact with the farmers and local people to elicit information whether the Government has done anything to alleviate their plight, contrary to its claims that the interests of farmers were being protected and agricultural lands were not at all acquired. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
