State gets 68 more ambulances

GULBARGA: As many as 68 more ambulances will be pressed into service in the State under the Centrally-assisted Arogya Kavach scheme.

Sources told The Hindu here on Thursday that the number of ambulances in the districts where the scheme was being implemented was being increased.

The scheme would cover 15 more districts in the State.

While Bellary district, from where Health Minister B. Sriramulu comes, has been given 10 ambulances in addition to the five provided when the scheme was introduced a month ago in select districts, Gulbarga district, which was provided five ambulances in the first instance, has been now provided with seven more.

The following are the details with existing ambulances in bracket: Bellary 10 (5), Gulbarga 7 (5), Bidar 4 (2), Bijapur 5 (2), Gadag 3 (5), Koppal 3 (2), Shimoga 2 (8), Bagalkot 2, Mandya 2, Raichur 7, Ramnagaram 2, Chikmagalur 2, Chikballapur 2, Tumkur 4, Chamarajanagar 3, Kolar 4, Uttara Kannada 3, Chitradurga 4, Kodagu 2, Davangere 3 and Hassan 2.
