Secretary suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: S. Shanmukhadas, secretary, Koottilangadi grama panchayat in Malappuram district, has been placed under suspension following the detection of large-scale irregularities in the issue of building permits, an official release said.

The irregularities were detected by the Panchayat Deputy Director when he conducted an inquiry on the basis of complaints of corruption from the public.

Local Self-Government Minister Paloli Mohamed Kutty has asked the Panchayat Director to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report.
