‘Nada Geethe will not be trimmed’

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has ruled out trimming the duration of “Nada Geethe” and said that he will look into the G.S. Shivarudrappa Committee recommendation on the issue of rendering it.

He was speaking to presspersons at a programme to announce the year 2009 as “Kannada Implementation Year” here on Thursday.

Drawn his attention towards the complaints and observations about the duration of the Geethe as aged and handicapped persons would find difficult to stand for over three minutes and pay respect to the State song, he said such complaints were only lame excuses and had no substance in it. However, he would look into the committee’s recommendation.

The Dharam Singh Government had constituted a committee headed by Prof. Shivarudrappa to select and suggest a befitting tune for the rendition of the Naada Geethe. It had recommended to the Government that the music composed by the late Mysooru Ananthaswamy was apt.
