United India launches top-up health policies

Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI: United India Insurance has launched “top up” medical insurance policies providing additional hospitalisation cover for limits now unavailable in Indian insurance market.

At present, anyone looking for medical insurance in excess of Rs.5 lakhs, will be normally required to take more than one policy and the second policy of Rs. 5 lakhs costs as much as the first Rs. 5 lakh policy to the great disadvantage of the consumer.

These policies introduce the concept of coverage beyond a threshold level chosen by the insured.
