Songs, dance mark Annual Day celebrations at The Brigade School

BANGALORE: The Brigade School celebrated Annual Day recently. The theme of the three-day celebrations primarily revolved around the State of Delhi. The cultural programme presented by the students took the audience on an an enthralling trip through India’s centre of history.

The primary annual day began with the choir singing “Swagatham, suswagatham”, the anthem of the 1982 Asian Games held in Delhi. Then the children presented an item that was a representation of the Republic Day Parade. Tiny tots dressed in army fatigues lead the parade , followed by students showcasing the culture of different States. From the tulip gardens of Jammu and Kashmir, the Onam festival of Kerala and Gujarat’s Tippani dance to Goa’s cheerful carnival and Nagaland’s bamboo dance, the parade was colourful.

The cultural programme came to an end with a dance-drama presentation of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”.

At the senior school annual day, film director M.S. Sathyu was the chief guest. He spoke on the futility of religion in a democracy and also about religion being the main hindrance in national integration. Principal Meera. V. Rao presented the school’s annual report, while chairperson Githa Shankar shared her vision for the school.

A skit “Paagal Sultan” on the reforms and initiatives of Mohammed-bin-Tughlaq was presented by the students of the senior classes. The skit brought to light Tughlaq’s foresight and development of art during the period due to the Sufi movement.A rendition of Carnatic music by the middle school followed, which transported the audience to the epic city of Hastinapura. The programme concluded with the delineation of the empire of Akbar.

Quiz

Delhi Public School (Bangalore North) hosted the all-India quiz on Germany and Mental Maths recently. Dhruva Chandramouli and Arjun Saxena of Vidya Shilp Academy won the first place and received a cash prize of Rs. 12,000. They qualified to participate in the final round to be held at DPS Noida in January. Rohit. C and Mithun. C of Presidency School, Nandini Layout were the first runners-up.

Sabyasachi and Aditya Garg of the host school along with the team from Vidya Shilp were declared joint winners in the German quiz. The event was conducted by DPS Society in association with Max Muller Bhavan. Ramesh Kauta, Chief Information Officer, General Electric, was the chief guest. Mansoor Ali Khan, board member DPS (Bangalore North) gave away the prizes to the winners. Principal Sneh Preet Sial was present.
