BANGALORE: Three persons were killed and 60 others were injured on Wednesday night and early hours on Thursday. In a collision between two cars at Thimmaiah Circle around 1.30 a.m. on Thursday, a student was killed while two others were injured. The victim, Vishwas (20), and his two friends were travelling in a sports utility vehicle when another car coming from the direction of Coffee Board, hit them. The SUV toppled and Vishwas died in a hospital, the police said. An employee of BSNL died on the spot when he fell from a two-wheeler on Kanteerava Studio Road around 4.30 a.m. on Thursday. The police said Devanand alias Anand (30), a native of Doddahatti near Mayasandra of Turuvekere taluk was travelling as a pillion. The rider lost control over the vehicle and both fell resulting in head injuries to Anand. In another accident, Munireddy (40), an employee of a private company and a resident of J.P. Nagar died on the spot on Thursday evening. The accident occurred on Bannerghatta Road near Jedi Mara bust stop.“We made elaborate security to curb accidents, but did not registered any case on charges of drinking and driving on Wednesday night,” Panduranga H Rane, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Traffic), told The Hindu. According to him the police booked cases only during the day on Wednesday. The police attributed the deaths to drinking and driving and rash driving.
