MGR’s nephew dead

CHENNAI: M.G.C. Sukumar, nephew of former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran, died here on Thursday.He was 60. He is survived by his wife and daughter. He was the son of MGR’s elder brother M.G. Chakrapani.

Mr. Sukumar had undergone a by-pass surgery last week in a private hospital and was discharged on December 31, his brother M.C.Rajendran said. “Today, he complained of discomfort in the chest and we rushed him to a private hospital in Nungambakkam. But he collapsed,” Mr. Rajendran told The Hindu. Mr. Sukumar had acted in three Tamil and a Malayalam movies. AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa, has in a message, condoled the death of Mr. Sukumar.
