CUTTACK: At least two persons were injured when two bombs exploded inside the premises of a youth club here under the Malgodown police station limits on Friday morning. According to the police, the bombs, believed to have been kept inside flower vases of the garden of Junus Patna Yubak Sangha, went off in the morning, injuring two persons who were passing by an adjacent road. Pandab Sethy and Bibuna Sahu were immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors stated that both of them were out of danger. Both received multiple injuries, the police said. While the police believe that the bombs stored in flower vases went off, members of the Sangha claim that some rival club members might have planted the bombs. The police were yet to ascertain the source and motive of the attack. No one was arrested in this connection as yet. Found dead in riverThe Mangalabag police fished out a dead body from the Mahanadai near Jobra barrage here on Friday. The unidentified body was believed to be that of a rickshaw-puller as a deserted rickshaw was also retrieved from a nearby area, the police said. “We have sent the body for post-mortem after conducting the inquest,” said the local police inspector P.K. Rath. Since there were injury marks on the body, locals believe that the rickshaw puller was murdered and his body thrown into the river. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
