Wipro Infotech develops police information system

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Wipro Infotech announced on Friday it has developed an integrated Police Information System (PIS), an online application software which covers the day-to-day activities in the police force.

A company release pointed out that the software includes coverage of the back-end operations of departments such as stores, administration and finance.

The company claimed that the application, currently at the “pilot” stage, would “automate processes” and result in greater efficiency in the police force’s response to crime and terrorist threats. The application’s “citizen interface” would enable citizens to lodge their complaints, whose status can then be tracked.

The various “operational modules” of the application would help the police track activities in functional areas such as crime, law and order, wireless communications, traffic and intelligence and counter intelligence.
