‘Sankranti puraskar’ for ryots, officials

State-level function to be held on January 16 and district-level on January 17

HYDERABAD: About 1,000 farmers and officials of Agriculture and related departments will be honoured at both State and district-levels with ‘Sankranti purskar’ in recognition of their meritorious work in their fields.

This year, officials of the Forest, Cooperation and Marketing departments will be felicitated.

A press release issued by Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy’s office on Saturday said 47 officials and 38 farmers would be honoured at the State-level function here on January 16 by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The venue will be Ravindra Bharati. At the district-level functions on January 17, as many as 587 farmers and 330 officials will be honoured.

At the State-level function, each ‘puraskar’ winner will receive Rs.10,000 in cash, a memento, a shawl and a citation. In the case of winners at district level, each will be given Rs.5,000.
