BANGALORE: Karnataka will field only the men’s team for the 70th senior National and inter-State table tennis championship to be held at Patna from January 5. According to Karnataka Table Tennis officials, they were forced to scrap the women’s squad , because the top three players — N. Poojitha, Nisarga and C. Shubhashree — were not available for the championship, owing to personal and academic commitments. Mr. Aralikatti, will accompany the team as coach-cum-manager. The team: Anriban Tarafdar, Samson Selva Kumar, C.P.Karthik, Sagar Raj and Jaideep Das. Karnataka runner-upKarnataka secured the runner-up tag in the recent National taekwondo championship in Goa, bagging 18 gold, 37 silver and 28 bronze medals, according to a Taekwondo Association of Karnataka press release.
