MANGALORE: The month-long “Karavali utsav”, which will feature cultural and other entertainment programmes, will begin here from Sunday. The utsav is being sponsored by the State Government. The cultural and entertainment programmes, which will carry on till February 4, will be held at the Town Hall, the Kadri Park and the exhibition grounds, on different days. There will be no entrance free for the programmes. However, the authorities have fixed an entrance fee for the exhibition at Lalbagh, which will also open on Sunday and end on February 16, an official release said. Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure Development G. Janardhana Reddy will inaugurate the utsav on Sunday. The inaugural function will be followed by a music programme by “Jaago Hindustani” troupe of Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Some of the important cultural programmes in the offing are: Mohan Veena recital by Pandit Vishwamohan Bhat at the Kadri Park on January 11 (6 a.m. to 7.30 a.m.); Ghazals and film songs by Hariharan at the same venue and same day, but in the evening; in addition, there will be tabla solo by Rimpa Siva of Kolkatta in the evening there. Vidushi Kalaramnath of Mumbai will present violin concert at the Town Hall on January 17.
