Hospital buildings at a cost of Rs. 1.93 crore to be completed in 11 months Construction of library building at Pudukudi at a cost of Rs. 3.30 lakh in progress TIRUVARUR: The Government Hospital in Mannargudi will soon get additional buildings for treating general medicine, maternity, emergency cases. Boomi puja for constructing the buildings at a cost of Rs. 1.93 crore was performed by M. Chandrasekaran, District Collector, on Friday. The Collector said that the buildings would be completed in eleven months time. The buildings would take care of the needs of increasing number of patients visiting Mannargudi hospital every day, he said. The Collector inspected development works going on in Neduvakottai, Koothachikottai, Ullikottai, Pazhayanur, villages in Bamini panchayat union. At Neduvakottai he visited and inspected the construction of buildings for the middle school. The villagers appealed to him to take steps to upgrade the school into a higher secondary school. He saw road works at many places. Works inspectedThe District Collector, M. Chandrasekaran inspected development works at various villages in Kodavasal panchayat union on Saturday. He saw the construction of library building at a cost of Rs. 3.30 lakh and cremation shed at a cost of Rs. 1.65 lakh at Pudukudi village. He also saw the construction of library buildings and cremation sheds at Kandithamanikkam, Thiruveezhimizhalai, Koothanur villages. He participated in the valedictory of Carrom tournament (doubles) organised by Kamalia Friend’s Club at Athikadai village in Kodavasal panchayat union and distributed prizes. He distributed Rs. 5,000 cash as first prize to Mujibur Rehman and Baleeth Sunil, second prize of Rs. 4,000 to Manikandan and Nagakumar, third prize of Rs. 3,000 to Kuthbudeen and Amajilla, and Rs. 1000 as fourth prize to Abdul Khader and Zia Ul Haq. The Collector said that sports and games improved both physical and mental health of a person. He said that Athikadai canal was desilted and improved under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and hence flood damage was minimised. He appealed to the youth to do social work. M. M.
