Crafts fair attracts many

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Sampoorn, a society for crafts and crafts people, began its New Year celebrations by organising a 10-day national-level “Sampoorn Crafts Fair-2009” at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat in Bangalore on Sunday. Handicrafts made by rural and tribal people have attracted many in the city. The fair will be on till January 11. The fair has seen participation from rural artistes, skilled workers from tribal areas, national and international craftsmen and art and handicrafts associations. Though the goods are handcrafted, they have been prepared to suit modern day tastes, especially jewellery and saris for women. Prominent among the displays are the Bhuj Kutch Shawls from Gujarat and Kanta and Aagoor fabrics from West Bengal.
