Engineering student held for burglaries

HYDERABAD: An engineering student and four of his associates, who allegedly committed robberies in city, were arrested by the Abids police on Saturday.

Mohd. Husnuddin Mannan, studying in a private engineering college at Moinabad, used to hire Toyota Qualis vehicle from travel agencies and approach individuals waiting at bus-stops in the night offering lift.

After taking them to isolated place, Mannan and his associates would beat up the passengers, rob them of their valuables and speed away in the vehicle.

The gang allegedly robbed one U. Satya Babu in similar fashion. Based on Babu’s complaint, police spread out a dragnet and caught Mannan while he was moving in Qualis at Chappel road.
