Kerosene dealers facing hardship

Special Correspondent

TIRUVARUR: Kerosene dealers in Tiruvarur district have urged the Chief Minister to take immediate steps for supplying kerosene allotted to them from the nearest storage points.

The dealers are running from pillar to post to get the regular and special supply allotted to them.

S. Swaminathan, secretary of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts Kerosene Dealers’ Association, Mannargudi, told The Hindu on Friday that the kerosene dealers attached to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation were facing hardship in getting the normal and special allotment from the Indian Oil Corporation storage point at Narimanam.

He said that while the kerosene dealers attached to IOC were getting supply immediately at its Narimanam storage point, the dealers of HPC and BPC were being taken for a ride. Mr Swaminathan requested the Chief Minister, Food Minister and senior officials of the Government and the Collector to treat all the kerosene dealers as equals and ensure quick supply for the rain-affected areas from the nearest storage point.
